2026 Mini Shreddy Trip
We're getting a little rowdy (not really lol) this spring and offering a singletrack-heavy, fun-filled weekend for women, trans, and gender expansive riders.

We’re offering a mini Slow Coast to kick off the summer season, with a focus on mountain bikes!
This is a non-competitive group bikepacking trip for women, trans, and gender-expansive riders happening over THREE DAYS, TWO NIGHTS (June 12-14, 2026)
The goal is to have fun in a supportive environment, build community, and maybe push ourselves, and likely our bikes, a bit!
-
Please respect that this trip is for women, trans, and gender expensive riders.
Event is also 19+.
Attendes must also be qathet Regional Cycling Association members for insurance purposes. You can buy a membership here (not included in the registration fee).
You do not have to be a seasoned bikepacker by any means, but being comfortable on blue trails and riding a loaded bike will definitely make this more fun!

Registration begins March 19 at 12 pm PST. It is a small trip, only 14 spots total, to ensure a fun and safe experience!
Please respect that this trip is meant for women, trans, and gender expansive riders.
Please also note that priority will be given to those local to qathet.

We support people getting on bikes in all capacities. However, here is the reality of this trip:
We will be biking roughly 100 kms over 3 days, on mostly 75% singletrack. Expect long days (but supportive and fun!) on the bike.
You will be expected to carry all of your gear.
You should be comfortable on blue mountain bike trails. There are many!
You don't have to be a bikepacking expert by any means, but you should be comfortable riding blue trails and riding 30-40 kms on a loaded bike (or up for the challenge!).
We described the route as “Intermediate” in terms of terrain, resupply points, and elevation.
At this time, we cannot support e-mountain bikes on this trip due to the complexity of repairs, group cohesion, and the unreliability of recharge points. Thanks for understanding!
If you have any questions about whether this trip is right for you, please reach out prior to registering.

We will following the Lower Sunshine Coast Bikepacking Route from bikepacking.com. We will depart and ride as a group each day after camp. We realize with a larger group some riders may naturally spread out, but we will be integrating a buddy-system (or something like it!) with meet-up points along the way so we stick closer together. Singletrack is slow, anyway!
Friendly reminder: this is a non-competitive cycling event. If your aim is to set a record on this route, this weekend is probably not for you. Also, some parts of the route may be a bit overgrown (as of friends' reports in 2025). Be ready for an adventure ;)

The fee for the weekend is $250. This includes:
A feel-good moment that 20% of your registration fee is being directly donated to local advocacy and conservation groups along the Lower Sunshine Coast. This is the heart of our event, and we are so excited about this!
Your ferry ride to the Lower Sunshine Coast (Saltery Bay - Earls Cove). If you do come from the Lower Mainland, you will be refunded the ferry fee to go towards your own ferry.
A private shuttle from the end (Persephone Brewing) back to Earls Cove. No road riding back for us!
A drink and meal at Persephone Brewing to celebrate on Sunday
Mini art activity (TBA!)
Cool (but we're biased!) Slow Coast merch
An Oveja Negra Chuckbucket Handlebar Snack Bag (valued at $65 USD!)
A chance to connect with others in a fun and non-competitive space
A fun overall weekend!

A mountain bike with front suspension should be considered the minimum to properly enjoy the route. A lightly loaded full-suspension mountain bike would also make a great option. This is not a gravel bike route. The route incorporates a lot of blue-rated mountain bike trails. As always, though, take it at your pace, get off and walk (we'll be doing lots of that!) and have a good attitude!
At this time, we cannot support e-mountain bikes on this trip due to the complexity of repairs, group cohesion, and the unreliability of recharge points. Thanks for understanding!

Yes! We are providing a celebratory meal on Sunday afternoon/evening, but the rest is up to you!
There are spots to filter water along the route, and spots to refill water at campgrounds, snack stops, etc. 3 litres on the bike should be plenty, but know yourself! Please come prepared.
Please bring riding snacks for the weekend, lunch for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, breakfast for Saturday and Sunday, and dinner for Friday and Saturday.
There will be no resupply for food on Friday, but we do go into Sechelt on Saturday and Sunday to restock!
I'll be sharing "what I'm packing" list for attendees closer to the trip!
-
Bring a sleeping bag, pad, tent, cooking gear, clothes to sleep in and ride in, and swimming gear if you please. If you need to borrow camping and/or cycling gear, please specify on the question in this form, and we will see what we can gather.
During registration, this is a spot to share what gear you may need, and also if you have extra gear to share :)
-
20% of your attendee fee is a part of a larger donation back to local advocacy groups doing important work in the areas we ride and visit.
TBA! Stay tuned, and we will share on socials!

A partial refund will be given up to April 30 (not including the non-refundable 100 deposit). A partial refund of 40% of the registration cost will be given for cancellations that occur prior to May 13, 2026. No refunds will be given after May 14, 2026 (this is when the shuttle becomes non-refundable). Thanks for understanding!
